Proposed New Township Hall Location at 1 Lima Center Road, Dexter, MI 48130

new township hall map

On September 6, 2018 Lima Township purchased 16.37 acres with vacant land, a fire station, a historical depot building and a billboard for $420,000. The purchase was free of debt. In addition to vacant land, the property includes wooded areas bordering Upper Mill Creek and frontage on both N. Lima Center Road and Jackson Road. Income produced from the property includes royalties from the billboard and farming the land as well as rental income from the Lima Depot. Fire Station #2 is forever protected by its location on property owned by Lima Township. The historic Lima Depot is zoned commercial and rented out for residential use. Above is a map of the location for the new Lima Township Hall.

Improvements to the property

July 1, 2019, N. Lima Center Road and Drainage Improvements commenced. Trees were removed in the rights-of-way and view obstructions were cleared, benefitting both the township and residents along N. Lima Center Road. The road was widened to the required width, excavated, graded and material was added to the road surface. Ditch retentions were created for better road drainage.

Residents on N. Lima Center Road were pleased with the availability of natural gas which had not been an option prior to the improvements.
